Systems, AI, data & transformation leadership
Understand → Improve → Enable → Transform
Profile
I’m an engineer at heart, a scientist by training, a systems thinker by instinct and an enabling leader by practice. I help organisations understand complexity, align people around a shared purpose and improve the way they make decisions.
My experience spans more than fifteen years across advanced research, software, analytics and international programmes. At CERN, I coordinated teams and programmes involving 30 to approximately 100 scientists, combining deep technical work with leadership across institutions and cultures. I now lead data and AI work at Evolvere Advisory and am completing an Executive MBA at IMD.
What I bring
Systems & decisions
Systems thinking, statistical and mechanistic modelling, model validation, uncertainty and executive decision support.
AI & data
AI and data strategy, machine learning, data products, prototyping, reproducible workflows and practical automation.
People & change
Technical programme leadership, stakeholder alignment, leading without authority, coaching and organisational change.
Professional experience
Data and AI Lead
Evolvere Advisory · 2025–present · Geneva, Switzerland
- Lead data and AI strategy for the Innovation Lab, developing AI software, data products and prototypes for client innovation initiatives.
- Deliver AI and analytics work from problem definition and model selection through prototyping and executive decision support.
- Advise on machine learning, analytics and automation, starting with the organisational problem and adoption requirements.
- Translate technical evidence into clear options, implications and recommendations for senior stakeholders.
Planned career break · Primary caregiver
2022–2025
Took a planned break as primary caregiver for my children while relocating internationally for my wife’s career. Continued professional development in data, AI and innovation, completing the MITx MicroMasters in Data Science before returning to senior work.
Staff Research Scientist and Scientific Programme Leader
CERN · 2017–2022 · Geneva, Switzerland
- Led particle-physics measurement programmes involving approximately 100 scientists across institutions without a common reporting hierarchy.
- Set clear objectives, prioritised work by impact and aligned individual motivations and institutional constraints with shared delivery goals.
- Oversaw programmes producing more than 15 papers and public notes, balancing investment in methods and infrastructure with fixed publication commitments.
- Recruited and trained a team to transform track-reconstruction software. Named owners, structured workstreams and validation stage gates helped deliver ahead of schedule and make the software run three times faster.
- Built commitment for more advanced identification methods and a redesign of background estimation, preserving alternative approaches until evidence identified a viable route.
- Coordinated detector, software and operational stakeholders to deliver reliable collision-location measurements used across the experiment.
Data Scientist and Postdoctoral Researcher
The University of Sydney · 2015–2017 · Sydney, Australia
- Developed statistical methods and anomaly-detection approaches to improve measurement accuracy and identify discrepancies between simulation and experimental data.
- Created reproducible analysis workflows and research databases supporting international collaboration.
- Used independent measurements to identify approximately 20% missing detector material in simulation, leading to lasting improvements in detector modelling.
Data Scientist and Postdoctoral Researcher
KTH Royal Institute of Technology · 2013–2015 · Stockholm, Sweden
- Optimised real-time data-processing pipelines and developed algorithms for precise measurements from noisy data.
- Applied neural-network and clustering methods in dense particle environments.
- Built research databases and mechanistic and data-driven models for detector calibration, numerical optimisation and validation.
Marie Curie Fellow
CERN · 2010–2013 · Geneva, Switzerland
- Pioneered a software framework to automate detector alignment using live data and large-scale numerical optimisation.
- Developed in-situ techniques to correct biases in particle-trajectory measurements.
- Overhauled electron reconstruction, improving detection efficiency and sensitivity by 20% and contributing to the Higgs discovery programme.
- Addressed performance, validation and deployment concerns early to build confidence in changes to core software.
